“Read It Yourself” is a series of books produced by Ladybird, a subsidiary of Penguin. It is divided into four stages to help children at different levels begin their reading journey. In addition to a scientific language grading system, a major highlight of this series is that it includes a large number of classic children’s literature, including Aesop’s fables, famous folk tales and myths from around the world, and fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen. Such a profound literary and intellectual nourishment is beyond the reach of many reading materials that only focus on language grading.
